Sammys Great Escape

I'd been sent a copy of Sammy's Great Escape on DVD to review and on Friday we had a particularly rainy day with several thunderstorms. I was pleased to have this to hand!
We popped up our little play tent, gathered some cushions and dished up some popcorn and milkshakes! The tent is perfect for snuggling up and watching a film from!

My little ones are two and four, and while they struggle to sit through a full film yet, they both absolutely loved this adventure - it all starts on the beach with some hatchlings and I loved that this inspired my little people to learn a little more about turtle hatchlings!
The adventures see Sammy and his friends on a boat, in an aquarium and through the sea it's great, there's no particularly scary characters or moments however, there are one or two small references to dead/death which is currently a frightening topic for my 4 year old - but thankfully they are succeeded with such a great part in the story that my 4 year old forgets the references quickly!

I loved that this shows an educated side to sea life and certainly entices my little people to explore sea creatures further.
I enjoyed the parts based in an aquarium in the Middle East - this was an opportunity to discus what Dubai is!

The DVD is great quality, with a UV digital copy meaning it can be played on devices such as a tablet or smartphone - handy to have!

The story line is full of adventure and intrigue - it held the attention of both my children and kept them entertained - it's one of those adventures which sticks in their minds and gave way to lots of imaginative role play after it had finished!

Both my children are firm Sammy fans now, with every turtle (including a turtle shaped sandpit!) now being named Sammy!

Although there is a franchise of Sammy films, it didn't matter that we hadn't seen any of the predecessors.

Available on DVD, Blu Ray and 3D Blu ray.

Suddenly, a poacher swoops in and ships them off to be part of a spectacular aquarium show for tourists in Dubai. The kingpin of the place, Big D the seahorse, enlists them in his plans for a great escape. But with their new friends Jimbo the bug-eyed blob fish, Lulu the snippy lobster and a whole family of penguins, Sammy and Ray hatch breakout plans of their own. That is when little Ricky and Ella arrive, determined to break in to rescue them. After a series of thrilling adventures and narrow escapes, our heroes head south to meet up with Shelly, Sammy’s first and only love.
