Spookley The Square Pumpkin Review and Giveaway

Spookley the Square Pumpkin is a new DVD from Abbey Home Media – Perfectly timed for upcoming Halloween! 

It is a film which is suitable for younger children, at only 45 minutes run time, my four year old happily sat through the whole movie while my two year old watched bits at a time - it's quite a musical DVD and both my little ones enjoyed dancing and singing along!

Spookley the Square Pumpkin is based on a Best Selling children’s book – “The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin” by Joe Troiano. 

The story of Spookley is all about how he, as a square pumpkin, does not fit into what is expected in the Pumpkin Patch. Some of the other round pumpkins bully him, calling him a weed and being unkind to him. Blake (4) was quite concerned by this and kept declaring "poor Spookley" 

Spookley and his square shape eventually save the day, (don't we all love a hero!) and he makes some great friends along the way - we loved the spider trio - Edgar, Allan and Poe! 

This is a positive message for children, as it opens up the chance to discuss bullying and behaviour. 

It's also a great non-scary Halloween film and has inspired some of our halloween crafts such as spider handprints and my four year old has decided he'd like me to make him a Spookley costume for Halloween! (I'll have to get my thinking cap on for that!)
